A BRONZE RECTANGULAR INCENSE BURNER

Early Ming Dynasty
Of rectangular form, the body flanked by a pair of dragon handles, the exterior of the body decorated with a band of pendant lappets below the rim and a band of lotus petals above the foot, cover, stand and box.

The design of incense burner flanks by a pair of dragon handles decorated with a band of lotus petals on the foot can be found on cloisonné enamel archaistic gui-form vessels of the same period. See three examples in the Qing Court collection, illustrated in the Compendium of Collections in the Palace Museum. Enamels, Vol. 1, Cloisonné in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Beijing, 2011, pls.25-27.

器形與裝飾可比較同時期的掐絲琺琅簋形香爐,見三件清宮舊藏纏枝蓮紋龍耳爐,足上皆飾有一圈蓮瓣紋,收錄在《故宮博物院藏品大系:琺琅器編》,卷1:元明掐絲琺琅,北京,2011年,圖版25-27。
