Footnotes

Lucy Marguerite Frobisher was an animal and equestrian artist. By 1921 she had moved to the house at Bushey known as Kingsly, and here she lived with her mentor and acclaimed animal painter, Lucy Kemp Welch. Upon Welch's retirement in 1926, Frobisher inherited title as head of the School of Painting at Bushey Heath. The school became known as the Frobisher School of Art In 1937.

In 1958, upon the death of Lucy Kemp Welch, Frobisher inherited Kingsly and the Welch estate. However, she remained head of the Bushey school until her death in 1974.

The Land of Dreams, an oil of Wire-haired Fox Terriers is illustrated upon the cover of the 1931 'The Studio' painting series titled 'Dog Studies Today'. 'The Frobisher Studio', named in the artist's honour, is a traditional Victorian working studio at the Bushey Museum.

Like many of her contemporaries she exhibited profusely including at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham (52); the Dudley Gallery (11); the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts (13); the International Society (1); the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool (10); the Royal Society of Portrait Painters (2); the Royal Academy (1); the Royal Cambrian Academy (36); the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (12); the Royal Institute of Oil Painters (9); the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (8); and the Society of Women Artists (3).
