A 20th century carved wood English Setter headed umbrella

A Paragon S Fox lady's umbrella modelled with a carved and painted English Setter handle on Nilgiri cane, attributable to the Czilinsky family, the dog wears a gold collar and the 18-carat gold feral marked 'V&S' English, its eyes double glass inlaid, labelled to the frame 'Paragon S Fox & Co Limited'.

Footnotes

August Czilinsky and his two brothers, Emil and Ferdinand jnr., and their father, Ferdinand, carved many dog headed canes for the prestigious West End London cane and umbrellas retailers Swaine & Adeney and Brigg and Paragon S Fox & Co Limited.
