A late 17th century ebonised longcase clock with ten inch dial.

The rising hood with blind cut fret on spirally twisted columns, the long trunk door with three raised panels and circular brass-framed glazed lenticle, on a plain base and squat bun feet. The ten inch square brass dial with elaborate winged cherub head spandrels with foliate engraving between, the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fancy fleur-de-lys half-hour markers, signed around VI John Wise, London , the matted centre with subsidiary seconds, ringed winding squares and a decorated shaped date aperture. The eight-day weight-driven movement with four knopped and finned pillars, the going train with anchor escapement and solid escape wheel, the pallet arbor set in a single footed cock on the backplate; the striking train with outside countwheel and detent acting on a vertically mounted bell of large size. Ticking and striking, together with a case key, crank winding key, brass-faced pendulum and a pair of brass weights. 1.95m (6ft 4.75ins) high
