An Unusual Continental Dagger

With tapering double-edged blade (minor rust patination) of hollow triangular section, waisted boxwood grip (minor damage) carved in relief on one side with a female figure, probably representing Liberty, above foliage involving a lizard and a seashell, a fouled anchor above beneath flowering foliage, all against a finely pricked ground, the pommel carved in the round as a male lion, a serpent in his paws, in original boxwood scabbard carved in relief with an Ottoman trophy of arms along one side, and on the other with a differing trophy of arms involving a Phrygian bonnet, bud-shaped terminal, two integral rings at the top for suspension, and with indistinct handwritten inscription around the mouth of the locket
