An 1805 Pattern Naval Officer's Sword

With tapering double-edged blade (some old pitting) of flattened diamond section etched with a martial trophy and foliage over half its length on both sides, cast and chased ormolu hilt comprising foliate scroll rear quillon, langets each with crowned fouled anchor within a border of foliage, stirrup knuckle-guard bound with laurel, lion-mask pommel, its mane forming the back-piece, and wire-bound partly chequered ivory grip, in its original black leather (some surface loss) scabbard with ormolu mounts (gilding worn) each engraved with neo-classical foliage against a stipple ground, the locket signed on one side, and with two rings for suspension
