A French 1st Empire Light Cavalry Officer's Sabre

Of regulation pattern, with curved fullered blade (pitted) double-edged towards the point, brass hilt with half-basket guard of two rounded bars swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, ovoidal langets, lobed rear quillon, pommel-cap and back-piece in one, and ribbed leather-covered grip bound with twisted copper wire; together with a reproduction French officer's sword in mameluke style, the blade (pitted) retaining traces of Klingenthal manufactory details along the back at the forte, and brass-mounted hilt stamped with spurious maker's marks on the top of one quillon, and inscribed 'VERSAILLES' along the top of the other, and wooden grips, in its brass-mounted leather-covered scabbard (2)
