A Caucasian Presentation Kindjal
Late 19th Century, The Presentation Inscription Dated 1924

With sharply tapering double-edged blade cut with an off-set fuller over most of its length on each side, one side engraved in Georgian with dated presentation inscription, waisted hilt and nielloed silver basal mount embossed and chased with foliage on the outside, walrus-ivory grip-scales, the outer one inlaid with a symmetrical design of chased gold foliage, and beaded silver-gilt border and rivet securing buttons, in original wood-lined scabbard en suite with the hilt, the inner side open and lined in dark blue velvet (worn)
