A Turkish 18-Bore Miquelet-Lock Silver-Mounted Rifle (Shishana)
Tughra Silver Marks, Late 18th/Early 19th Century

With russet twist slightly swamped octagonal sighted barrel rifle with seven spiral grooves and encrusted with running gold foliage within panels at the muzzle and breech, the latter with two gold-lined barrelsmith's marks, arched triple-aperture back-sight encrusted with gold scrollwork, tang with encrusted gold inscription 'Property of Mustafa' in Turkish, characteristic silver-encrusted lock stamped with a circular maker's mark on the bridle, figured Circassian walnut full stock (minor old damage in front of the lock) inset around the lock and faceted segmented butt with pinned silver panels pierced and engraved with foliage (the panel beneath the fore-end forward of the lock worn and incomplete), the rear section with pierced silver rondels between trefoil borders (lower border incomplete), four engraved silver barrel bands (one missing), button trigger, bone fore-end cap, and wooden ramrod with turned steel tip
