A Persian Steel Kulah Khud, A Bazu Band, And Five Indian Dhals
All 19th Century

The first Qajar and with domed skull etched overall with seated Persian figures in contemporary costume between rays emanating from the top, the rim bordered by ovoidal calligraphic panels, the front embossed and etched as a demon's (Div) face, fitted with horns, central spike of diamond section, nasal, two plume-holders, and vandyked camail of butted rings (some losses, surface rust overall); the second shaped to the fore-arm and flared out over the wrist, the outer surface encrusted with engraved silver foliage on three cartouche-shaped panels, all against a ground of chiselled flowering foliage within borders en suite (wrist-plates and liner missing); the last each of convex circular form, and with applied rim and four bosses, two damascened with silver foliage and with applied serpentine riband bordered by applied brass vines, one set with turquoise and red coral (corallium rubrum) beads, each retaining its fabric liner, the remainder retaining some silver-damascened decoration, one with padded red velvet liner, and one retaining its fabric liner (all with some wear and surface rust patination) (7)
