Of blackened steel, with rounded one-piece skull embossed with vertical ribs and flutes radiating downwards from a ring-shaped finial centred on flower-head shaped washer, the front with pointed rivetted peak with turned edge and pierced for an adjustable bar-nasal with finial pierced with a heart and working on a wing-headed screw, neck-guard of four upward-lapping plates each with waved upper edge, the bottom one drawn-out to a blunt point, triangular cheek-pieces each pierced with a star centred on six square-shaped piercings, the main edges turned and with dome-headed brass rivets throughout
