In excavated condition, with broad curved blade double-edged towards the rounded point, the forte on one side inlaid in copper with cross potent in a circle, cross-guard with widely recurved 'fish-tail' terminals each deeply incised with lines, long flat tang of rectangular section, compressed wheel-pommel with raised circular boss on both sides and surmounted by a stepped pyramidal copper-alloy button
