A North European Riding Sword
Mid-Late 17th Century

With bright tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section stamped with bladesmith's marks along the flat on each side of the forte, one side struck with the letter 'P' beneath the guard, iron hilt comprising flat circular guard struck with a mark on the inside by the short rounded quillon, thumb-ring, knuckle-guard with integral diagonally swept side-bar, globular pommel, and original wooden grip (wire binding missing) retaining one brass wire Turk's head
