Some Account of the Pennsylvania Hospital, from its First Rise to the Fifth Month, Called May, 1754 [with] Continuation of the Account...to 1761. Philadelphia: B. Franklin and D. Hall, 1754, 1761. First edition, two volumes in one, 8vo, stiff paper covers bound with string. In custom slipcase. Covers rubbed, chipped, and loosely attached, pages toned and with corners rounded, early owner's inscription to front cover, notes on rear cover. With List of Contributions and Legacies appended to second volume. First volume lacks subscriber list.

The Pennsylvania Hospital was the first public hospital in the 13 American colonies. These accounts, written by Franklin and others, were intended to serve not only as a history but as aids to fundraising.

The first title is one of 1500 copies; the Continuation is one of only 500 copies printed.
