Document signed, with archive of sloop "Nancy". Document signed by President Washington, New York City Mayor Richard Varick, and Secretary of State Timothy Pickering, granting the sloop "Nancy" permission to sail from New York and asking foreign governments to grant her safe passage and allow free transaction of business, dated January 11, 1797. In English, French, and Dutch, with paper seals, including one attached by a ribbon. Fold marks, some toning. 15 1/2 x 13 1/2 in.

Accompanied by 8 related documents, various sizes, combination manuscript and printed:

French Consulate in New York document granting sloop "Nancy" free passage to Puerto Rico.
Portage bill (wages contract) for seamen of sloop "Nancy" for voyage to West Indies and back to New York, dated January 11, 1797.
Bill of lading for sloop "Nancy", dated March 15, 1797.
Report and manifest of the cargo on board sloop "Nancy".
Coastal trade register for sloop "Nancy", port of Aquin.
Clearance papers for sloop "Nancy" from Aquin to the United States.
Wages account sheet for sloop "Nancy" dated April 17, 1797.
Wages contract for seamen of sloop "Nancy" on voyage from New York to Hispaniola and back, dated August 28, 1797.
