Document signed. On one sheet, matted and framed double-sided, document sight 11 1/4 x 11 1/4 in., frame 14 1/2 x 19 in., with a round engraved portrait of the Spanish King and Queen and a gold coin, on verso of frame paper seal, monograms and reverse of coin visible.

Accompanied by a letter from the Library of Congress dated 1 January 1942, stating, "The document is a royal provision, issued by Ferdinand and Isabella from Toledo, March 4, 1480, informing the officials and inhabitants of the city of Alcaraz that, in accordance with a pact which they have made with Marques Diego Lopes Pacheco, he is to be put in possession of the salt-works of Pinilla, Cotillas and Bogarra and to receive all income from them." A typescript translation of the entire document, attached to the Library of Congress letter, is also included with the lot.
