A Pere figure
Lubero territory, Northern Kivu Province, Eastern Congo forest, standing on heavy feet with notched toes, the legs carved with stacked double-egg form knees and hips, supporting an attenuated barrel-form torso with projecting navel, the hands held out in front with arms outstretched, leading to the tapered shoulders, the neck adorned with a notched, disc necklace supporting a spherical head with upward looking face, with a squared, open projecting mouth, exaggerated lumpy nose and circular projecting eyes in a sunken orbital cavity with shell inlay for pupils, dark patina, with fiber belt around the hips, mounted on a wood base.
