An Australian Aborigine wunda shield

Western desert, early 20th century, of elongated oval form, the front surface carved with alternating red and white pigmented linear grooves that turn uniformly to create a countervailing diagonal motif, a raised handle and fine grooved carving on the reverse, with a metal stand.
