Silver Plated Presentation Fire Trumpet,
Derby-style presentation trumpet with applied oval plate on the bell engraved "Capt W.W. Claflin C.E. Etter Asst./Pipe M W. Woods/Peabody/June 17, 1896/Play 164 Ft," surrounded by an engraved scene with buildings, helmets, axes, ladders, and a steamer with men being pulled by two horses.

Provenance Note The names and dates on inscribed plaque refer to a Hand Fire Engine Contest held at Rockdale Park, Peabody, Massachusetts, on 17 June 1896. Quinsigamond (Quinsigamog) No. 1, a Hunneman Hand Tub #475 belonging to Quinsigamond Engine Company No. 1 of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, achieved the highest spray at over 164 feet, winning the "$50 silver trumpet" in a special contest against the Muster sponsors, Peabody Veteran Firemen's Union.
