Inlaid Mahogany Tall Clock,
William Cummens, Roxbury, Massachusetts, c. 1810.
The arched molded hood with pierced fretwork and topped with brass finials. The tombstone door flanked by reeded columns and the painted iron dial showing phases of the moon, with seconds hand and calendar aperture, with polychrome and gilt painted spandrels. Eight-day brass weight driven time and strike movement, the waist with molded and cross-banded door flanked by brass mounted reeded quarter columns, the inlay repeated on the base, resting on flaring French feet. The dial inscribed "Warranted by Wm. Cummens", ht. 91 1/2 in.
