Pair of Carved Mahogany Chippendale Side Chairs,

England, second quarter of the 18th century.
Serpentine crest rail centering a scroll-back plaque carved with foliate motifs extending down the pierced splat and shoe, flanked by bellflower-carved raking stiles, the over-rail upholstered seats on frontal cabriole legs with knees carved to depict masks of lions holding rings festooned with ribbons and flowers, terminating in hairy paw feet.
Ht. 39 1/4, seat ht. 17 in.
