On a single sheet of paper, dated Washington, Dec. 13, 1849, addressed to Jas. W. Hale, Esq. It reads, "My Dear Sir, This morning I received your kind note of the 12th inst. accompanied by a beautiful map of London, and a panoramic view of that city, and of the Thames, for which please accept my grateful thanks. They are the things which I have most desired to see, and I shall keep them as a memento of friendship from my esteemed correspondent, to whom I should be happy of an opportunity to reciprocate the favor. I am truly yours" (fold marks, wrinkling at top and left, some light staining to top edge), 9 x 7 ¾ in. With a print of Fillmore blind-stamped "Copy by Bachrach."
