Footnotes

Provenance:
Acquired directly by the current owner from the official Bungie 20th Anniversary Auction in 2011.

Halo: Combat Evolved was regarded by fans as an instant classic on its release as a launch title for the Xbox, Microsoft's first foray into videogame hardware. The mysterious protagonist, known only as the Master Chief, has become one of the most recognisable character in video game history. Halo's first level is set in the Pillar of Autumn, which is meticulously depicted in these concept artworks by Bungie artist Eddie Smith. The Pillar of Autumn is a lone warship containing human survivors fleeing the advance of The Covenant in the year 2552, which stumbles upon a ring-shaped artificial world named 'Halo'.
