George Gibbs (1937–2020) was a British special effects artist who is best known for his work in 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom', 'Labyrinth', 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' and 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', 'Flash Gordon', 'Conan The Barbarian', 'Pink Panther', among many other productions. Born in Islington, London Gibbs started his career in 1953 at his local theatre, the Hackney Empire in East London where he trained as a theatre electrician with Strand Electric Company. He worked in this line until 1958, when he landed a job at Pinewood Film Studios.
