This photograph is part of the record of the last Sex Pistols performances in Britain in 1977 before they left for their ill-fated US tour. The afternoon gig was a benefit for the families of striking Huddersfield firefighters, and it along with the evening gig having been programmed for Christmas Day would have attracted only die-hard Pistols fans who would have sacrificed their family Christmas celebrations to see the band play. This all contributed to the ebullient and happy atmosphere the two performances had, which is fully evident in the photographs that Kevin Cummins took recording the event. Each photograph, with his contemporaneous photographer's stamp, is rare vintage survival.
