Roman-Style "Centurion" Production Used Helmet from Ben-Hur.
MGM, 1959. Vintage Roman-style Centurion helmet constructed of brass shell with hinged temple guards, static visor, and plume-tray at the crown. The visor features the same figural decoration as the helmet worn by "Messala" (Stephen Boyd), but with no other discernable matching elements. The construction and detail of the piece suggests it would have been worn by a foreground actor, at the very least, as the previous background helmets we've handled have been less detailed. Retaining some of the interior foam padding added for comfort of wearer and with some residual adhesive where foam once was but has since deteriorated or been removed. Red bristle-brush plume not present. Minor oxidation to the interior. Exhibiting expected production wear and age.
