HAWAIIAN MONARCHY.

DAVIES, THEOPHILUS HARRIS. 1834-1898. "To the Editor of the Honolulu Daily Bulletin." [Honolulu(?): March 14, 1894.]
4to (281 x 215 mm). 2pp on 2 conjoined leaves ("Argyle Linen" watermark). Horizontal centerfold, brief faded marginal note, a few stray spots, but very good overall.

Rare offprint of Davies' letter from the Honolulu Daily Bulletin regarding American annexation of Hawaii. Davies, the founder of one of Hawaii's "Big Five" sugar firms, acted as guardian of Princess Kaiulani while she travelled in Europe and the United States and had supported her right to succession. Not in Forbes although this letter was also printed as part of another publication, which is Forbes 4541.
