Prima parte dello Specchio del Mare. Genoa: Gerolamo Marino & Benedetto Celle, 1664.
Folio (407 x 275 mm). Title within wide engraved border, 25 engraved maps (24 double-page), numerous woodcut illustrations in text. Contemporary vellum. Covers soiled, margins of maps trimmed close to or into plate lines, some dampstaining, a few paper repairs, not affecting text, browning and spotting.
Provenance: Enrichetta Hensemberger Rivolta (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION of this rare pilot atlas of the Mediterranean, with Italian text probably translated from the 1662 Zee-spiegel of Pieter Goos, and maps engraved by Levanto.
