U.S.S. DORADO WAR BOND POSTER.

Fire Away! Buy Extra Bonds. U.S. Government Printing Office, 1944.
Lithographic poster, 40 x 28-1/2 inches, folded.

Artist George Schrieber (1904-1977) designed this war bond poster after the U.S.S. Dorado, a Gato-class submarine, was sunk off the coast of Cuba by a German land mine. In addition to mentioning the Dorado by name, this poster also bears the label of the 5th War Loan Drive, launched in June of 1944.
