Translated by Katherine Woods. Publisher's light brown cloth lettered and decorated in brown, pictorial dust jacket. Light chipping to corners of jacket, two approximately 30 mm tears from top edge of jacket on front panel, smaller tear from top edge of rear panel, slight bumping to corners, a few fingermarks.

LIMITED FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, SIGNED by the author, number 231 of 500 issued. The jacket is in the first state for an American edition, with "386 Fourth Avenue" address on the front flap and blank rear flap.
