Collection of approximately 45 photographs and printed images of Walt Whitman, including original photographs and prints, some annotated on the verso, c. 1850-1892. Including: Cabinet card by Rockwood, an 1895 printing of the 1850-1855 photograph which appeared as the frontispiece for the 1895-1896 Fellowship Papers. * Portrait photograph, approximately 8 x 10 inches, matted. * 3 portraits of Whitman extracted from a published work, with titled tissue guards. * Loose portrait frontispiece from the Walt Whitman Fellowship Papers, Second Year (1895-1896). * Etching in profile by Jacques Reich, from a photo by Thomas Eakins, partially hand colored. * Collotype print from a photograph of an older Whitman, standing with walking stick. * Collotype print from a photograph of Whitman in profile, facing right. (3 copies.) * Photographic illustration of a bust by S.H. Morse. * Print of a photographic portrait an older Whitman with wide-brimmed hat. * Print from a photograph of Whitman seated, left, holding up a flower. * Print of a standing photographic portrait with hat held at his side. (2 copies.) * Print of a photographic portrait of an older Whitman with hat by George C. Cox, with facsimile signature and date "Sept. '87" printed in lower margin. (3 copies.) * Print after the photo by Gabriel Harrison. * Engraved portrait of an older Whitman in left profile, unsigned. * Engraved portrait of older Whitman, right profile, unsigned. (2 copies.) * 5 gelatin silver photographic prints of Whitman in advanced age, various poses, one mounted on card branded "Rockwood" with an address of 1440 Broadway at 40th Street. * Cabinet card photo of a younger Whitman, later printing dated 1895, mounted on card by Rockwood of New York. * Aquatint engraved portrait of an older Whitman seated with walking stick. (Dampstained.) * Series of small clipped photographic illustrations of Whitman and members of his family, some with reference numbers penciled on the verso.
