The Costume of Indostan, elucidated by Sixty Coloured Engravings ... Taken in the Years 1798 and 1799. London: Edward Orme, [watermarked "J. Whatman" 1830].
Folio (358 x 265 mm). 60 hand-colored engraved plates, English and French text. Red morocco, rebacked retaining original morocco covers with borders decorated in gilt and blind, all edges gilt, modern cloth-covered clamshell case. Plate 2 loose, inserted at front, scattered spotting and staining, even browning.
Provenance: Ipswich Literary Institution (inscription in margin of main title, volume I); The Max and Peter Allen Collection.

FIRST EDITION IN BOOK FORM. One plate with J. Whatman watermark, dated 1830. Abbey Travel 429; Colas 2765.
