Footnotes

Hoshino views her practice as a "dialogue" between artist and clay in which she uncovers a basic ceramic form, then processes the material to create dramatic shapes inspired by the landscapes around her hillside home. She fires her works in a reducing (oxygen-starved) atmosphere that produces subdued colors offset by droplets of her signature silver glaze.
