Footnotes

One of South Korea's foremost ceramists, Park Young Sook is widely admired for her work in white porcelain that recalls wares produced in the latter part of the Joseon era (1392-1910). Often, as in this example, she increases the height of her pots and reduces the thickness of their walls in comparison to the originals, thus creating pieces that pay homage to the past while maintaining a distinctive contemporary aesthetic.
