Footnotes

Fukumoto Fuku (daughter of Fukumoto Shihoko, see following lot) forms her works through a unique process, combining several vessels, some without bases, thinly potted and usually with irregular rims. After an initial firing, she glazes the component vessels, then assembles them in such a way that they shift slightly in the kiln as they float on liquified glaze during a second firing.
