WINE AND SPIRITS.
5 works:
1. Album officiel de la Fete des Vignerons Vevey 1889. [Vevey: 1889.] Small oblong 8vo. Panoramic color folding illustration. Publisher's printed paper wrappers. Foxing to wrappers, front and rear wrapper separating at spine, minor fading. Depicts the costumes of all participants in the parade of the Fete des Vignerons.
2. [RUM.] Etiquettes de luxe. Paris: Louis Plouviez & Fils, [1920s]. Small oblong 8vo. 45 printed and die-cut rum label samples in colors, tipped to stubs. Original stiff paper wrappers, with contact information for the printer in brown letterpress, with decorative border. Wrappers slightly soiled, some small edge tears and creases. Some of the labels feature overtly racist imagery of the black inhabitants of Martinique.
3. BARANGER, LEON; and ANDRE L. SIMON. Almanach du Franc Buveur pour 1926. Paris: Le Livre, [1926]. Small 8vo. Wood-engraved illustrations. Publisher's stiff brown wrappers with paper lettering piece on front wrapper. Some chipping and creasing to wrappers, light toning.
4. Etablissements Nicolas. Liste des grands vins fins. [Paris: Printed by Draeger for Etablissements Nicolas, 1931.] 8vo. 2-page lithographic illustration by A.M. Cassandre. Wire spiral binding with blue card covers, the upper cover die-cut in a star shape, revealing the "N" of "Nicolas" on the title page in blue on a silver ground. Some rubbing and darkening to covers. An elaborately decorative price list for the premium offerings of the venerable French wine retailer for 1931 — at 1931 prices!
5. GROHUSKO, J.A. Jack's Manual on the Vintage & Production, Care & Handling of Wines, Liquors, Etc. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1933. 8vo. Publisher's printed boards laminated in orange and black. Slight peeling to lamination of boards, ownership inscription on front paste-down. Written by a Brooklyn bartender, this compendium was originally published in 1908, with numerous revisions to follow. It contains approximately 400 drink and cocktail recipes, toasts, and generally useful information for the tippler.
