RUSSIAN AVANT-GARDE ART.

RODCHENKO, ALEKSANDR MIKHAILOVICH. 1891-1956. Mospoligraf. Color lithographic poster, Moscow, [1940], approximately 260 x 180 mm, after a larger poster published in 1923 for Moscow pencil manufacturer Mospoligraf. Matted and framed. Not examined out of frame.

This was the first publication of this design as a lithograph, with an explanatory caption at the lower edge. The original poster for Mospoligraf bore a brief verse by Futurist poet, playwright and artist Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893-1930). It was printed in connection with the publication of the definitive book on Mayakovsky, V.V. Mayakovsky. Sochineniia v odnom tome, in 1940. The print was also reproduced in the book.
