VIRGIL (PUBLIUS VIRGILIUS MARO). 70-19 BCE. Bucolica, georgica, et Aeneis. Birmingham: John Baskerville, 1757.
4to (290 x 227 mm). List of subscribers. Contemporary calf, rebacked with compartments of original spine laid down. Corners bumped, scuffing, scattered spotting and browning, some marginalia in ink and pencil.
Provenance: Captain Campbell of Kilberry (bookplate).

FIRST BASKERVILLE EDITION, subscriber's copy of the first work published by John Baskerville: "Baskerville's first and perhaps his finest book ... 900 copies were printed, at 1 guinea to subscribers" (Gaskell 1).
