AVANT-GARDE BOOK CATALOGUES.

COHEN, ELAINE LUSTIG and ARTHUR COHEN. A collection of Ex Libris rare book catalogs, New York, 1974-1990, various formats, all in pictorial wrappers, comprising 18 catalogues and 32 short lists (2 duplicates). Condition varies; most fine.

Founded in 1973 by Elaine Lustig Cohen and her husband Arthur Cohen, Ex Libris Rare Books was among the first American booksellers to specialize in European and Russian avant-garde books. They issued specialized catalogs dedicated to Surrealism, Dada, Bauhaus, Constructivism, Futurism, and German Expressionism. Elaine Lustig Cohen, herself an artist, designed most of the catalogs, while others were designed by Tamar Cohen, and Trevor Winkfield. An invaluable reference for collectors and curators.
