THE BERNHARDT EDITION OF LA TOSCA SIGNED BY BERNHARDT TO THE FRONT COVER AND DATED 1891.
Sardou wrote La Tosca for Bernhardt and she performed the title role in its debut in 1887. The play was one of Sardou's most successful, and Bernhardt toured the play for many years, making it one of her most iconic roles. Here she signs beneath the printed advertisement line: "The only correct version of my plays, translated and printed from my prompt-books."
