8vo (205 x 128 mm). Engraved folding frontis map by Osgood Carleton. Early sheep, worn, with crack to front joint.
Provenance: Samuel Bradley Jr. (inscription dated 1802); James Collis (inscription dated 1825); Hester Sullivan Fearing (inscription dated 1922).

First edition of the first history of Maine, including Carlelton important early map, considered the best and by far most accurate of the contemporary maps of Maine. Evans 29589; Sabin 93499.
