8vo. Map frontispiece, folding map, engraved plate, wood engraved illustrations in text. Publisher's purple cloth decorated in blind, gilt titles on spine. Faded, rubbed, spine ends chipped, browning, mostly to margins.

SECOND EDITION, adding to the text of the 1821 edition with the additional narrative of the discovery of the river's origin in Itasca Lake, in 1832. Howes S192; Pilling 3520; Sabin 77878.
