4to (262 x 210 mm). Folding aquatint frontispiece, hand-colored "Map of the River St. Lawrence," 26 engraved aquatint plates (5 folding). Contemporary calf-backed boards, spine dried, worn, front cover detached, minor foxing.
Provenance: Captain Astle (ink inscription); Rear-Admiral Robert Mansel (engraved bookplate).

FIRST EDITION of "the earliest and most important aquatint book published on Canada" (Hill 801). Abbey Travel 618; Sabin 31489.
