2 volumes bound in 1. 4to (238 x 175 mm). Folding engraved portrait frontispiece before first volume title, main title printed in red and black, 13 engraved plates (11 folding). Contemporary vellum, gilt lettering piece on spine, speckled edges. Light staining to covers, minor foxing.

Second edition, edited by Giovanni Battista Morgagni. "Valsalva was an extremely skilled anatomist and pathologist, a fine physician, and an excellent surgeon" (DSB XIII, p 567). He also formed a link between Malphighi and Morgagni, being a student of the former and a teacher of the latter. Blake p 468; Waller 9797.
