8vo (175 x 114 mm). Portrait frontispiece. Contemporary calf, rebacked with original covers and portions of original spine laid down, modern cloth-covered clamshell box. Corners bumped, ink notations to front free endpaper, old dealer's description tipped in at front, margins trimmed, old ink marginalia (some partially trimmed away), scattered spotting and staining.
Provenance: A. Bernardes de Olivera (bookplate).

FIRST EDITION of Sydenham's revised book, drawn from his 1666 publication Methodus curandi febres, and essentially a third edition of the previous title. This updated version is considerably enlarged and includes his observations on epidemics that occurred between 1661 and 1675, making it a fundamental work on epidemiology. WITH: Opera omnia medica. Padua: Giovanni Manfrè, 1700. 8vo (170 x 109 mm). 20th century half calf and marbled boards, elaborately gilt on spine. Rubbed at edges, slight chipping to corners, foxing. First Padua edition of the works of Sydenham. Garrison-Morton-Norman 63 (but not this edition).
