OSLER PRESENTATION COPY.
OSLER, WILLIAM. 1849-1919. Science and Immortality. London: Archibald Constable & Co., 1906.
16mo. Publisher's blue textured cloth stamped in gilt. Rubbed, toning to endpapers.
INSCRIBED BY OSLER on the front free endpaper: "Miss Cameron, from the author. Oxford, Feb. 11, 1910." First British edition. The text was originally delivered by Osler as the Ingersoll Lecture in 1904. It was first published in Boston in 1904.
Miss Cameron is likely Jean Cameron, who would join the McGill University library in 1913 to assist Margaret Charlton. She was instrumental in the creation of the Osler Library of the History of Medicine, of which she said, "... the Medical Library of McGill University became Osler's first love, his interest in it having begun during his student days."
