2 volumes. 4to. Photogravure frontispiece of the author in each volume, 14 plates on 13 sheets. Original black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, top edge gilt. Some light rubbing.

FIRST EDITION. Baron Lister was an important promoter of a sterile surgical environment and introduced the use of carbolic acid to kill germs. Garrison-Morton-Norman 85.
