2 volumes, 4to (210 x 130 mm). 8 engraved plates. Contemporary half green straight-grain morocco and marbled boards, spines ruled and titled in gilt. Rubbed, scattered spotting.

Second edition, originally published in 1794. "Hunter's last work ... contained his studies of inflammation and of the management of gunshot wounds, both of which subjects had been imperfectly understood before his time" (Norman). This treatise is of great significance in the history of cardiology and includes important sections devoted to the vascular system. Garrison-Morton-Norman 2283; Norman 1122 (both first edition).
