Provenance: George Tyler Bigelow (inscription from author); Daniel Clement Colesworthy, Boston author and bookseller, 1810-1893 (ownership signature on front blank).

INSCRIBED AND SIGNED on verso of the front free endpaper: "George T. Bigelow, from his friend and admirer O.W. Holmes." Bigelow was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Massachusetts from 1860 to 1867.

WITH: [Another copy.] Chipping to top of spine, library stamps and bookplate (Medical Society of the County of Kings).
