8vo (210 x 126 mm). Modern calf to style. Some foxing and browning, marginal staining to later leaves.
Provenance: F. Whitaker (ownership signature on title page, c. 1772); W. Lee (ownership signature on first text leaf, c. 1800).
FIRST EDITION of this description of angina pectoris. Heberden was "... the first to include a description of the paroxysmal oppression in the thorax. His account is so perfect that it might well have been written today" (Garrison-Morton-Norman 2887).
WITH: Commentaries on the History and Cure of Diseases. London: T. Payne, 1803.
8vo (210 x 127 mm). Contemporary calf, covers ruled in gilt, spine in six compartments with gilt roundels, red morocco lettering piece in second compartment, modern custom clamshell box. Joints cracked, spine ends chipped, rubbed, light browning throughout.
